Debra Lewis-Curlee Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone October, 2001 as Executive Director under the previous organization name (Collaborative for Organizing Mt. Pleasant, Inc.) Ms. Lewis-Curlee has extensive experience in human services planning, policy, and program development, especially in regards to children and family services and supports at the neighborhood level. Ms. Lewis-Curlee is a product of Cleveland Public Schools. Ms. Lewis-Curlee holds an undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Sociology, and a Masters in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University. Ms. Lewis-Curlee is an LSW, and National Planning member of National Association of Black Social Workers.

Ms. Lewis-Curlee is the proud mother of one daughter and one granddaughter. She enjoys family and friends, reading, entertaining,  going to church, and meeting new people. She has co-authored several planning guides.

Barbara A. Mosby Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone November, 2001 as Officer Manager and assistant to the Executive Director under the previous organization name (Collaborative for Organizing Mt. Pleasant, Inc.) Ms. Mosby has over 30 years of professional experience in the public and private sector in business administration, planning, health and human services. She is the product of the Cleveland Public School System and holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Capital University concentrating non Human Resource Management. Her responsibilities are in the areas related to reviewing, tracking and processing of proposals and grant requests sent to MPCZ. She provides broad operational, personnel, and administrative support to the Executive Director, Program Director, and Institutional Advancement Director as well as the development and maintenance of the MPCZ Web Site.

Ms. Mosby is the proud mother of three, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She enjoys reading, traveling and is a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) and is Certified in Supervision and Leadership.

Beverly-Ann Burks Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone January, 2006. Ms. Burks is a Graduate of the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University where she earned a Master of Public Administration Degree in Public Policy. Ms. Burks also holds a Bachelor Degree from The University of Cincinnati in Social Science, and is a certified Economic Development Professional. Ms. Burks has worked in the non-profit, community development arena for over sixteen years, serving as Executive Director of Garrett Square Economic Development Corporation and the Cleveland Community Building Initiative.

She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Transitional Housing, Inc, and is a member of the National Association of University Women. She is responsible for developing programs that meet the needs of the Mt. Pleasant Community that are in concert with the mission of MPCZ. Ms. Burks is the parent of a wonderful daughter and enjoys reading, music, football and crocheting.

Wendy Murphy joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone, June 2006. Mrs. Murphy provides financial oversight to the Executive Director and assists with budget preparation, financial reports and manages day to day financial transactions. Mrs. Murphy is a native Clevelander, and a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School. She has a degree in Business Administration concentrating in Accounting. She has over 10 years of corporate experience ranging from tax, audit and financial/business management.

Mrs. Murphy is married with two daughters. In her spare time she loves hosting get-together's with close friends and family (kitchen friends”), listening to good music (R&B and Gospel), spending time with her daughters, trying to finish one of the many books she’s juggling and trying to finish, and taking a well earned nap.

Tare’ Beaver Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone March, 2002 under the previous organization name (Collaborative for Organizing Mt. Pleasant, Inc.). Currently Mr. Beaver is the Site Coordinator for the Out of School Time programs at A. J. Rickoff and Charles Dickens Schools. Mr. Beaver is also responsible for the Wealth Build Programs for the residents of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Beaver holds a Masters’ in Social Work,  and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Cleveland State University. He is certified in Parenting, Smoking Cessation, and Parenting Skills Enhancement.

Mr. Beaver is a proud father who enjoys spending time with his family and watching his children grow into productive and positive individuals, and also enjoys fishing, traveling and football.

Mary Landers Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone March, 2006 as Community Organizer. Ms. Landers has extensive experience in health and human services and as a community outreach worker. Ms. Landers is a product of the Cleveland School District and is currently seeking a degree in Community Health. She is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating programs with agencies and groups concerned with social problems of the community. She also investigates problems of the community and of individuals disadvantaged because of income, age, or other economic or personal handicaps to determine needs.

Ms. Landers enjoys swimming, crocheting, partying and traveling. Mary & Lewis are the proud parents of three, grandparents of nine, and great grandparents of three. Ms. Landers received the McBride Award for Excellence while working for Vocational Guidance Service Community Mental Health, and while working for Cleveland Housing Network had the highest employee placement and retention rate in the organization.

Melanie Johnson Joined the Mt. Pleasant Community Zone March, 2006. Ms. Johnson has over ten years working as an Administrative Assistant in health and human services where she worked at the Cleveland Community Building Initiative. Ms. Johnson is a product of Cleveland Public Schools. Ms. Johnson holds a Certificate from PTC Career Institute in Business Administration. Ms. Johnson is responsible for various secretarial and administrative duties for projects and oversees office operations.

Mrs. Johnson is married and the proud parent of one son. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, and sewing. She is the newest member of the PTO at her son’s school, Cedar Hill Christian Academy.
